Day 1 - Travelling day(s)!

The trip has begun. I drove from Odense to Hamburg, and picked up the 3 guys from the band in Fredericia. Levi, Jonas and Asbjørn. We continued, and left Hamburg airport at 6:30pm. We arrived in Amsterdam about an hour later, and had to wait for 13 hours, to catch our next flight to Detroit. We must say the Dutch people are very nice! - And we had a really good experience!
We stayed awake the whole night to avoid jetlag when we arrived to the States. The flight to Detroit took 8 hours and 30 minutes. When we arrived we had to go through a lot of checks!! - And of course we were pulled aside to get the BIG check or so we feared. A family in front of us had to take everything out of their luggage so it could be checked. The officers started by asking us a lot if questions we had already answered about were we were going and so on. - Our guess is they had to make sure the band are not going to earn any money while staying. You have to have a special permission to be able to do that. 7 officers were checking out the Cornserstone festivals homepage and Solace the Days myspace:-P One og them told us he is a big Slayer fan:-)

The process took so long we missed our flight, but we got rebooked to the next one rigth away, but luckly we did not have to emty all of our suitcases.
It was a miracle we did not miss our bus in Chicago. We won an hour because of the time differens and just caught it:-)

We were all very tired of showing passports and emtying our handbaggage. Now it was finally over!

When we arrived 3 hours and 40 minutes later at Peroria, we waited a while and were then picked up by Andreas and his friend Annie.
We drove to the Schertz familys house were we met up with 3 other danes, Pastor Bob, the rest of Annis family and friends of the family. We got some great food and had a nice evening! - Their house is in a really nice place! - There are a lot of forest around it and there is fireflies! - I looked at them and i couldnt help thinking that they are like we as Christians should be. Lighting up the darkness around us.

We(me and Solace the Day) got settled in, in a storage building on their property. We talked about tomorrow and the festival, and how things are going to work and the band practised acapella:-)

The perfect table:

USA!

This next month I will be in the United States. I am travelling with the danish Christian Metal band Solace the Day, to help them sell their merchendise. Just to sum up what i will be doing, and were i will be:

The first week i will be at the christian festival Cornerstone in Chicago, Illinois. The band has many concerts, and there are loads of bands to hear!

When the festival is over i will go on a roadtrip in Pastor Bobs car to go to his home in Nashville, Tennessee. We will spend some time working on different projects, see the town, and meet the homeless people Pastor Bob is helping to feed.

Along the way Solace the Day will have some concerts:-)

So more details to come:-)

An era has ended!

What i have started 3 years ago i have now finished.
I started 3 years ago at HTX a gymnasium as it is called in Denmark. A mix of highschool and college i am told.
I have to admit that I am a bit proud of myself. When i started this education I started on another school. I was thinking: if this is HTX I am out! After 2 months I found another school with HTX and the same majors as I was studying already, so I transfered to that school. I was very nervous when i called the school to ask if i could transfer. I told God that if there were a space available I would transfer, and there were. So I ended up in a class with only boys. It has been a challenge in many ways, but I have learned so much and gotten so much insider information, about guys that you would normally not learn as a girl. I have seen how they change behaviour as soon a girl walks in. Real fun:-P
I feel very privilleged and blessed. And I now for sure knows, that God has planned this very carefully, since the ministry he has called me into is a guy-world, but more girls are coming all the time:-) This ministry has showed me why God has created me exactly like I am, and why he has let me face the kind of trials i have faced. God ALWAYS has a purpurse with what he lets you go through. That is one of the many lessons I have learned. Even though a situation can seem very bad and you might think: ”why is God letting this happen to me?” - He always has a plan. It reminds me of the saying: ”what doesn't kill you makes you stronger”, and you know, I have to say I agree. Sometimes it can be years before you understand why you had to go through that hard time, sometimes you never will. - But there is a purpurse! - And i thank God for learning!

These 3 years has been a struggles at times, and I have had my doubts and I have wanted to just quit it all, but I got through, and I would not have if I had not had God right beside me all the time. He provided me with some awesome classmates, who i am going to miss very very much! - He provided me with a fellow Christian by my side, which has ment a GREAT deal too! - And what will hopefully be a friend for life.

So it is with mixed feelings i have graduated today. I am happy about finally being finished. That I do not have to take anymore useless classes and I can do whatever God wants me to do! - That is amazing! - But I am also going to miss my dear classmeates, whom I have spend 3 years with and whom have accompanied me on my very first trip to the States for a month, not that long ago.

Anyhow, that was a lot of writing and nostalgia:-)

Acension day Ralley!

We had a great and fun day with the church at the Acension day ralley!
We started at 10 o' clock in the church to get instructions, and then headed out on the Fynske roads:-)

We had a fun trip in the "Metal Tour Bus" as we were called:-P
We answered questions along the road and had a few problems with the directions, but we made it:-)
We ended up at a camping area which one from the church manages. We were remined of what this day is all about. That Jesus Christ went home and send the Holy Spirit to help us communicate with God. An amazing gift!

Some pictures from the day:

Trying to find the way:-P

Hard question:-)

Sanctuary Groups!

It seems like everytime i write in here a whole lot has happened in the meantime!
One of the things i would like share is the Sanctuary Group Fyn!

The Sanctuary Groups are groups different places in the country which we have been starting since March. We hope to get more groups started over time whereever they are needed. At the moment we have one in Kolding, Vejle, Århus and Odense, and we are working on other cities. The groups are ment especially for metalheads. We talk about God and metal music! - We hang out eat together, go to concerts or whatever we can come up with and just have an awesome time together!

In Odense we meet wednesday every 3. week at 6:00PM and have had 4 gatherings so far.
We have a great time together talking about what is on our heart. We have a open fellowship where we can share good things and the things that worry us, anger us, and so on. And we talk about the music we love and hear a PodCast or read a blog from Pastor Bob Beemen, and talk about it - Its awesome! - I always feel encouraged and happy when i leave.
You know, we have the two things which we all have a special passion for in common: God and metalmusic. Which is, to be honest not a combination that you see everyday:-) So it is nice to once in a while gather with people who you have those two things in common with.
Two things which also describes our group on Fyn very well: food and food...:-P

The next event will be: Acension day-Ralley! - And i will most likely be writing about it:-) Hopefully with pictures!

Here are just one more of not-that-great pictures taken by my cellphone from our last meeting:

Thrashed night at Kansas:-P

I have just returned from a night at Kansas City, and i have never been so thrashed from a night there as i am now. There has just been so much to do! I wanted to write this right away so i don't forget what i want to write by tomorrow:-P
Well, it was a big concert for a place like Kansas City tonight. Mercenary was the headliner with two suppoting bands: Unbelief and Submission. Unbelief is from Odense, so they had a great deal of support from the crowd! - The vocalist is a ”responsible” as it is called at Kansas City. It means he is the boss at the night he is ”on duty” at Kansas:-) He is a great guy and i have worked with him some times, so it was a cool experience to hear his band, and they were actually the best band:-P They were really good!! - In general the music tonight was just in a higher level than it usually is:-)
The good bands also attracted a lot of audience! - And that is why i am so amazingly tired, but i love to come home from a night at Kansas and feeling tired and thrashed, then it has been a great evening. The position that i use to have at Kansas is in a team of three in a night like this with these bands. Tonight it was a team of two because the third called in sick. And more crowed means more to do of almost everything. So my teams to do list looked like this:

- Checking the bathrooms once in a while
- Doing the dishes(whatever the band has used for dinner, and glasses in general during the night)
- Cleaning up bottles, and glasses from the tables during the night.
- Cleaning up after the bands in our two backstage areas.
- Cleaning the stage from bottles
- Stand in the door during breaks
- Make sure there is beer and soda in the bar or else fill it up! :-P
- Clean up if someone splashes beer or the like on the floor...

Its a challenge when you are two people:-P But i love it!
And i got an unexpected surprise! - A guy from the Danish Christian Metal Forum Assulting Vanity showed up! - I was so busy so we did'nt get to talk much though.

When people was almost out and i was sweeping the floor a security guy walked up to me and said: ”you did the hard work”, and gave me 20kr. Very nice of him. I had never even meet him before that night!
Well, i better go to bed before i pass out:-P

Picture later...

20 years old with a new tattoo!

Yeah, that is crazy! - I really cant believe that i have lived in 20 years!
I could not help but thinking a bit about my life so far. God has made it an amazing journey! And i can see as i look back that some of the things i have experienced has been a preparation for what is going to happen, and what has happened the last three years of my life. The three years of my life where God has invited me into a very exciting time filled with his amazing and undescribable love.

To celebrate the 20 years, me and my father went to the tattoo artist Gert at Magoo Tattoo in Silkeborg a couple of days later. And i got a tattoo on my foot with the text: MADE BY GOD...
I am very happy about it, and reminds me, that i am a child of God, and he has ceated me in his image:-)
