Day 6 – Cornerstone!

We woke up in a tent quite chaotic – more than usual. Water had started to come inside the tent. And the many Skittles which was bought had a tendency to disintegrate as soon as a small drop of water came near. The whole place was very muddy and i decided to walk barefooted the whole day.
We spend a long time in the tent. None of us wanted to go outside in the rain. I finally went to buy some merch and Kevin gave me and umbrealla! - So nice of him! - he is one of the guys at the Sanctuary stage.
I was hanging out with Adam from A Hill to Die Upon and we went to see War of Ages and Living Sacrifice. Two awesome concerts!
In the evening i went to the Sanctuary worship once again. Afterwards i ran into Adam and we walked around talking, and sat down talking, we were basicly just haning out all night talking. So i did not get any sleep at all. A very nice night though! - We went to our tent to pack everything, and then Bob came to pick us up, to go for a 6-7 hour ride to Nashville. So we had to say goodbye to everyone. So sad!

Day 5 – Cornerstone!

We started the day with a Solace show at 1:20 at Solace stage. A generator stage with a small stage and a tent, so one of the bigger generator stages. Solace borrowed gear from A Hill to Die Upon again. It was very hot so after the show Levi, Asbjørn, Andreas and I went to the beach.
Later i went to see a split show at a generator stage between A Hill to Die Upon and Consumed.
Later on I hang out, Phil, Amanda, Brian, Stefan. Then we went to main stage to see mewithoutyou.
Afterwards i stayed for worship in the Sanctuary tent. Levi and Andreas was playing. I then spend some time with A Hill to Die Upon and went to see the Crucified. Andreas, Levi, Jonas and i went to The Asylum tent. It is a tent were the goth people are hanging out. Though it has been dry weather up until now it started to rain today. We had to be offering some clothes and towels to prevent the rain from coming into the tent too much. It worked pretty well:-)

Day 4 – Cornerstone!

I started the day at the merch stands with David one of the other 3 danes here. I got to buy a lot of merch!
Afterwards Solace the day had a show at High Volume Stage at 2. Also a generator stage. The show was so crazy! And drew a lot of attention. When we arrived at the stage another band was playing. There were only us looking at them. When Solace started playing a lot of people came. About 40 were there and that is a lot for a generator stage. For the first time i missed Andreas guitar, but it was okay:-)
Solace borrowed gear from the band A Hill to Die Upon. They are really great guys!
Andreas, Levi, Asbjørn, Jonas and I went to the ”beach” to cool down. The weather is pretty hot, but everyone keeps telling us that this is cool weather compared to what it is usually like at Cornerstone. Well to explain the ”beach”. It is a big lake, and instead of sand its dirt. Its quite nice! - We spend a hour or two there, just hanging, some bathing. Afterwards some of us met up with 3 of the guys from A Hill ti Die Upon, together with, some of the other danes. It was really awesome! - I enjoy getting new friends. I have met many new people today. Adam from A Hill to Die Upon wanted us danes to learn to play catch with the Base Ball glove and everything, fun. When the time came we all went to see Project 86 at the main stage.
Later on i meet Pastor bob. He has just arrived today, and was sitting in his big american car, which has the limusine outline. It is a Lincoln. Looks nice:-) I sat in there with him and talked about how the festival is going and so on:-) Jonas joined and soon after we went to see Impending doom. That was one of the greatest concerts i have seen it was so heavy especially because of a really nice effect they had put on the drums. Awesome experience!
Afterwards we went to Sanctuary Worship. Andreas and Levi was playing.
meet lots of new people
Levi, Jonas, Andreas, Amanda, Annie and I went for Brian Welch at main stage. He was in the very famous band Korn and became a christian. – awesome to see a man that has lived in that kind of abuse and more scream his heart out in praise to God.
We quikly headed for HM Magazine stage were The Satire was playing. We saw the last couple of songs and waited for The Chariot to go on. They are a very chaotic band and i like their music. They have a crazystage show, unfortunately i couldnt see much. We stayed for 3 or 4 songs and went to the Flatfood 56 concert. Its a punk band, who has an amazing gift to get the audience going. Im not that found about the music but man that was a party! - They apparently has a theme for each concert, this time mexican. Most of the tent was one giant circel pit! - Crazy! - And people were having so much fun and looking out for each other. It was a great experience!
And then straight to bed.

Day 3 - Cornerstone!

Today i have meet some friends and meet a lot of new people. Besides that i bought some merch and went to a concert with a british band called More Than Dust. They are really cool people and a great band. Later on Solace had their 3rd concert at Sanctuary stage. I saw a bit of a concert with The Burial, nice band! I also discovered a very cool band called The rose hill. They are a female fronted band. And she has the collest growl:-P I talked to her a bit afterwards and she was very nice too, so no rockstar attitude. And the coolest is that they really dedicated thier concert to God! - A band i diffinately have to keep an eye on:-)

Day 2 - Cornerstone!

We woke up at 8 and got breakfast at the Schertz families house. We then drove to Cornerstone. On the way we went shopping in Wal-Mart, to have something loads to drink and a bit to eat. I of course bought some real american Dr. Pepper:-P
We came to Cornerstone and went for a walk to see the place. Solace had their first show at Passion Brand stage, which is a generator stage. A small place in the open on grass:-) I was filled in with the details and my job during the concerts here will be to catch Andreas guitar when he does not need it anymore, and give it back when he needs it once again. And i will take some pictures and film too. Afterwards I will be selling their merchendise.
I was hanging out with Levi and Andreas until the next Solace show of the day at Sanctuary stage which went so much better than their first show:-) It was an awesome concert.

Day 1 - Travelling day(s)!

The trip has begun. I drove from Odense to Hamburg, and picked up the 3 guys from the band in Fredericia. Levi, Jonas and Asbjørn. We continued, and left Hamburg airport at 6:30pm. We arrived in Amsterdam about an hour later, and had to wait for 13 hours, to catch our next flight to Detroit. We must say the Dutch people are very nice! - And we had a really good experience!
We stayed awake the whole night to avoid jetlag when we arrived to the States. The flight to Detroit took 8 hours and 30 minutes. When we arrived we had to go through a lot of checks!! - And of course we were pulled aside to get the BIG check or so we feared. A family in front of us had to take everything out of their luggage so it could be checked. The officers started by asking us a lot if questions we had already answered about were we were going and so on. - Our guess is they had to make sure the band are not going to earn any money while staying. You have to have a special permission to be able to do that. 7 officers were checking out the Cornserstone festivals homepage and Solace the Days myspace:-P One og them told us he is a big Slayer fan:-)

The process took so long we missed our flight, but we got rebooked to the next one rigth away, but luckly we did not have to emty all of our suitcases.
It was a miracle we did not miss our bus in Chicago. We won an hour because of the time differens and just caught it:-)

We were all very tired of showing passports and emtying our handbaggage. Now it was finally over!

When we arrived 3 hours and 40 minutes later at Peroria, we waited a while and were then picked up by Andreas and his friend Annie.
We drove to the Schertz familys house were we met up with 3 other danes, Pastor Bob, the rest of Annis family and friends of the family. We got some great food and had a nice evening! - Their house is in a really nice place! - There are a lot of forest around it and there is fireflies! - I looked at them and i couldnt help thinking that they are like we as Christians should be. Lighting up the darkness around us.

We(me and Solace the Day) got settled in, in a storage building on their property. We talked about tomorrow and the festival, and how things are going to work and the band practised acapella:-)

The perfect table:

USA!

This next month I will be in the United States. I am travelling with the danish Christian Metal band Solace the Day, to help them sell their merchendise. Just to sum up what i will be doing, and were i will be:

The first week i will be at the christian festival Cornerstone in Chicago, Illinois. The band has many concerts, and there are loads of bands to hear!

When the festival is over i will go on a roadtrip in Pastor Bobs car to go to his home in Nashville, Tennessee. We will spend some time working on different projects, see the town, and meet the homeless people Pastor Bob is helping to feed.

Along the way Solace the Day will have some concerts:-)

So more details to come:-)
